The Armstrong 800 Cast Iron Inverted Bucket Steam Trap delivers reliable condensate drainage for low-pressure steam systems. Built with a rugged cast iron body rated to 250 psig at 450°F (17 barg at 232°C), the Model 800 handles capacities up to 700 lb/hr (318 kg/hr) with a maximum operating pressure of 150 psig (10 barg). Designed for horizontal installation, this trap provides continuous, energy-efficient operation across a wide range of drip, tracer, and process applications.
The inverted bucket design uses a free-floating stainless steel mechanism with no fixed pivots to create wear or friction. As steam enters, the bucket rises to close the valve; when condensate accumulates, the bucket sinks to open the valve and discharge condensate. A unique leverage system multiplies the force provided by the bucket to open the valve against system pressure, ensuring reliable operation even under varying load conditions.
Key Features
- Free-floating stainless steel inverted bucket mechanism — no fixed pivots to wear
- Continuous air venting at steam temperature via bucket vent hole for efficient system startup
- Discharge orifice at top of trap — dirt held in suspension and purged when bucket sinks
- Water seal around orifice prevents live steam loss
- Field-repairable internals — service without removing from the line
- Resistant to water hammer
Applications
Ideal for drip legs, tracer lines, and low-pressure process applications in commercial and industrial steam systems. The 800 provides efficient condensate removal while preventing live steam loss, available with screwed NPT and BSPT connections in 1/2″ (15 mm) and 3/4″ (20 mm) sizes.
