Y-Strainers

Armstrong Y-type strainers protect downstream steam traps, valves, and equipment with precision-machined screen chambers that won't leak or crush. Straight threads require less torque for easier installation and removal, and a standard 40-mesh stainless steel screen catches debris before it reaches critical components.

Precision-Machined Screen Chambers

Both ends of the screen chambers are precisely machined, providing perfectly round and smooth seating surfaces and a fixed chamber length. Since the screen seats snugly on the machined surface, no particle bigger than the screen opening can escape around the end of the screen.

Straight threads mean less torque is needed to achieve a tight seal with proper gasket compression. Less torque is also required to remove the retainer—less danger of “freezing in” than with hard-to-break tapered pipe threads. Off-center drains on 2½″ and 3″ strainers allow nearly complete removal of liquid and dirt when blowing down.
